So much to experience at the LOVELAND STUDIO TOUR!

I’d like to invite you to a unique art event, the Loveland Studio Tour. My new studio, Artworks Loveland, has 25 mid-career artists, some of the artists you’ll recognize from their work in Fort Collins. (Barbara Gilhooly, Jennifer Davey, Jennie Kiessling, Amy Reckley and others.) And this is just one of open studios!

I’ve had a fabulous summer for art. I won Arrow’s “Five years out” grand prize – $10,000 at Denver’s Cherry Creek Festival, painted a five foot metal butterfly for Colorado Springs and this was my fourth year doing transformer murals in Fort Collins (320 Maple). My new studio paintings are pours of several gallons of paint. My work collaborates with the force of gravity to make colorful, swirling hypnotic works of beautiful abstract art. I welcome you to experience these joyful works in person.

The area immediately surrounding my studio is also worth noting. Next door is CreatorSpace, a cooperative “makerspace” for engineers, artists, musicians and tinkerers of all sorts to come together and … create! For me, that means cool tools like 3D printers, laser cutters, metal & wood workshop all with access to the geniuses whom know how to use them. And of course, the $8.9 million ArtSpace, a live/work residence for artists, is across the railroad tracks from the studios. ArtSpace is open during this event and I am looking forward to peek, too. The old Feed & Grain building is here, too, but in process of being renovated.

One block up, Fourth Street, has a variety of unique shops and restaurants to explore… I recommend Next Door, Origins Wine bar, Chop House bar. Generations for appetizers and martini(s). Aleworks and Crow Hop are close & tasty breweries. Doug’s Day Diner for a retro breakfast or sandwich. The Tortilleria La Authentica has amazing $2 burritos! Always a line (but moves quickly). They are open just for lunch, but the best way I can think to spend $2! Loveland downtown is set up nicely for a “progressive” style dinner, sampling a bit from each restaurant and making an evening/day of it. Did I mention coffee? Coffee Tree.

I’d be happy to give you a personal tour of Artworks and CreatorSpace outside of the tour hours. Just e-mail me.

I look forward to seeing your work, your studio and to meet you in person, I plan to go to the art studio tour on Sunday, Oct 18th. The Tours website is so nice. It’s great to get a look at each artist’s work ahead of the tour. Congrats on all your success this past summer. See you tomorrow. gm
